‘This series of bark vessels is formed from silver birch, each piece retaining sections of the tree’s original bark as an integral part of the work. The textured surface carries the marks of time and growth. Layers shaped by weather, season and place, offering a tangible record of the tree’s story presented in a new form.
Smoothly worked interiors and refined edges sit in gentle contrast to the raw, tactile exterior. Together, bark and wood create a contrast between being protected and revealed, where material memory is preserved rather than lost. The result is a collection rooted in narrative and presence, allowing the living history of the tree to remain visible.’

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Glenn Dane creates pieces from his garden studio in Cambridgeshire that reflect his connection with nature and the local environment. He transforms responsibly sourced green wood into unique vessels and sculptures, and crafts botanical inks, dyes and pigments using foraged berries, seeds, plants and earth from the surrounding landscape - celebrating the natural beauty of the materials by embracing the unique grain, knots, and imperfections in the wood, which tell the story of each tree's life and location.
